LITO VALES

 

Originally from San Diego, California, Lito Vales lives and works in New York City. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Studio from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1992 and a Master’s Degree in painting in 1997 from New York University. His work is known for its use of personal imagery that he manipulates electronically, while executing the work using traditional materials, such as oil paint. He also incorporates other media, such as music, video and photography, as well as creating his own art books.

 

His work has been shown in New York, California, New Mexico, Florida, Texas, Oregon and New Jersey. In addition, he is a graphic designer and photo editor at the Everett Collection, and continues various music projects, including Phillip Eno, Grant’s Fast, Uncletoe’s Portasound, Hormencio and Dovie Beams Love Child, all produced by himself under his own record label, Cactus Killer Records.
